Would you like to work in a friendly, energetic PR team, driven by a mission to ensure every dog has a life worth living?
We're looking for a PR Officer who will be responsible for public relations activity attached to designated Dogs Trust rehoming centres, as well as working on PR activities to support teams around the organisation including our Public Affairs, Research and Outreach teams (for our Freedom and Together Through Homelessness projects).
About this job:
As PR Officer you'll:
- Handle reactive media enquiries, both within the allocated region and for national stories,
- Brief our spokespeople for broadcast opportunities, coordinating media visits.
- Generate proactive media coverage for your region and nationally by researching, writing and disseminating news stories, images, video, features and any other materials for media and digital outlets, including social media.
- Support the work of other departments in their communication needs through research and preparing statements
- Help deliver outofhours service for media enquiries as a part of rota which is shared between the team.
About You:
With great organisation skills you will have experience of working in public relations and generating media/digital coverage.
Excellent communicator with strong attention to detail you will have experience of preparing spokespeople for broadcast media interviews and have a solid understanding of social media.
Crucially, you'll have demonstrable experience of delivering KPIs on a variety of communications projects, using your initiative and project management skills.

About the Team:
The Public Relations team sits within the Communications & Digital directorate. We help people to know, love and understand the charity and to take action to support the charity's work.
We use our understanding of Dogs Trust and the needs of our wide and varied audiences to produce impactful, creative, on-brand communications.
This role operates on a hybrid model with two days a week, at our London office in Angel, Islington. This role also involves travel to other Dogs Trust locations around the UKIf you're a real team player with excellent people skills and an ability to make things happen, we'd love to hear from you
