About the Employer
I require a reliable and trustworthy Personal Assistant to support me to attend University.

This will be a mix of accompanying me to travel to University (total 3.5 hours per week) and to return home but also to support me with completion of assignments at home by assisting me with typing and provision of meals, snacks and drinks and help with toileting as required.

Other conditions include:
I have Scoliosis and use a wheelchair. I use suction regularly which I may need help to do.

Overnight I have a ventilator and am peg fed, whilst this would not be a usual part of the PA role awareness is necessary.

Full training will be provided.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting,
showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.

  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
  • Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.
You will be required to administer medication.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.


Required Skills:


  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social
media in relation to the job role.

  • To be able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Be patient, supportive and caring.
  • Have good listening skills and be able to provide nonjudgemental emotional
support.

  • Be empathetic.
  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine
interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.


Other skills include:

I would like a friendly and calm person with a reasonable level of English and Maths in order to be able to assist me with my University assignments.


Required Training
Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.

First Aid. Training will be provided by the employer.

Peg Feed. Training will be provided by the employer.


Other training required includes:
Chest therapy training - training provided by the employer


Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 20 per week


Salary:
£9.80 per hour
