Job summary:


The role of the G7
Benefits, Business Case and Management Information Lead within the Programme Management Office is to oversee and lead a team delivering the key functions to monitor and track the Programmes performance.

You will be the lead for development and co-ordination of the Programme Business Case, leading submissions and responses for key approval stages and ensuring that the Programme remains within the scope of delivery during implementation phases.

Working with the wider PMO, you will establish the Benefits Management function and deliver a comprehensive realisation plan for onward tracking with various key stakeholders.

You will form a Management Information hub to centrally manage data and information underpinning key evidence for Programme decisions.

Job description:


Responsibilities include:

  • Leads the planning, development and drafting, and oversees the production of business case.
  • Prepared to challenge expert input and is responsible for ensuring the business complies with organisational and Treasury requirements. Use lessons learned from similar projects to inform business case preparation.
  • Devise and provide guidance and advice to project teams on the requirements and development of business case, using organisational templates and HMT 5 case model.
  • Present business case rationale to senior managers and project governance forums, work with key stakeholders to anticipate and mitigate issues and delays whilst engaging with senior management.
  • Provide visible and effective leadership, leading benefits management and work with the project managers to deliver the business case benefits and outcomes. Develop clear vision and standards and champion the use of best practice benefits management standards, tools and processes.
  • Define and shape the benefits management strategy considering the wider organisation methodology, working with partnering Programmes to establish a joint approach.
  • Oversee the project Benefits Realisation Plan including associated change control. Establish the mechanism for coordinated and consistent tracking and reporting of benefits through the project lifecycle and into realisation.
  • Leads the Programme Management Information function as the Information Asset Owner, including oversight of the Configuration Management and Business Analysis functions.

Essential criteria:


  • Experience of developing and tracking Programme level Benefits and Outcomes to realisation.
  • Be able to evidence a working knowledge of Government Business Case development and lead on essential assurance activities to seek approval.
  • Advanced knowledge of Management Information principles and apt experience of working with data and information in a Programme environment.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, influencing stakeholders at the highest level whilst adapting your delivery to suit a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams to respond flexibly to change and competing demands.
  • Bring a passion for innovation, showing leadership in delivering new ideas and ways of working, exploiting available technologies where possible.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, sharing information, resources and support.
