Edvance UK are currently looking to recruit the Anchorage Team Lead to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, which is a vital part of the UK's future energy strategy.


As part of the Responsible Designer, Edvance UK deliver the design of some of the Nuclear Island (NI) buildings for Hinkley Point C from their Bristol Office and will also replicate the NI design for Sizewell C in the years to come.


As the Anchorage Team Lead you will lead and manage a team of anchorage engineers to provide technical support during the design, analysis and justification of anchorages on the Nuclear Island (NI) and propose technical solutions.

You will directly receive work assignments from and report to the Steelwork and Anchorage Group Lead.


This is an excellent opportunity for you to work closely with the relevant disciplines in Edvance UK and Edvance France but also within the Client and the suppliers to ensure the technical requirements for the HPC project are met.

What you'll be doing

  • Working with the Group Lead to ensure that safety is a priority;
  • Managing the anchorage team's overall planning, technical accuracy and quality of the work;
  • Managing the relationship with all internal and external stakeholders pertaining to the anchorage activities;
  • Acting as a role model and demonstrating the highest standards of focus on nuclear professionalism and safety;
  • Carrying out surveillance of supplier calculation notes and drawings;
  • Managing design changes in accordance with Edvance change process;
  • Performing design activities for fastenings and anchorages in concrete;
  • Developing substantiation reports and complete surveillance of applicable technical documents;
  • Performing technical verifications of Anchorage civil engineering documents for their building;
  • Supporting specific JDO and RFIs queries relating to anchorages;

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Civil Engineer with a minimum of 7 years' experience;
  • Experience of civil design and engineering process;
  • Experience in team management, preferably in a nuclear engineering environment;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations;
  • Understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings in concrete;
  • Knowledge of both embedded and Post Installed Anchor Plates;
  • Knows how to deal with the design and layout constraints;
  • Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures;
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software packages, RSTAB and ANSYS;
  • Experience in nuclear or another highly
- regulated industry i.e. aerospace, oil & gas, energy, or public sector works is preferred;

  • Experience of nuclear design and engineering process is preferred.
