Project Engineer

Up to £26 an hour (Umbrella)
**Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:30 / Friday 08:00 - 14:00

Contracted position working for specialist company in providing bespoke design, engineering, and assembly solutions in the automotive sector.
As a Project engineer, you will be required to:

  • Plan and coordinate the engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and final buy-off phases of the project.
  • Control project activities within a budget.
  • Plan the project's needs and resources, including where to get the necessary subcontractors.
  • Determine and implement corrective measures by anticipating any potential project risks.
  • Deliver deliverables on time and in accordance with customer specifications, outlining those specifications as appropriate.
  • Produce products on time and in line with customer standards, clearly outlining those requirements, as necessary.
  • Effectively analyse customer and internal modifications, including feasibility studies, and cost any changes in requirements.
  • Observe client alterations and take part in customer meetings if necessary.
  • Participate in the part approval and product quality planning procedures.
  • Monitor your work against the project's schedule.
  • Provide operating guidelines and procedure documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives and back process improvement.
  • Create reports and update clients and project meetings on your progress.
  • To identify best practises and emerging trends, conduct benchmarking studies.
  • Ensuring that the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene are constantly upheld in accordance with the company's principles.
  • To consistently act and conduct oneself in a manner that complies with all business policies, rules, and regulations, particularly those that deal with ethics, values, and codes of conduct.
The Project Engineer should have the following experience or qualifications:

  • Suitable manufacturing/engineering degree or HNC/ONC engineering background combined with verifiable experience.
  • Having the capacity to interpret and convert product designs into process information
  • Exceptional knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Clear understanding and able to read engineering drawings.
  • Analytical, mathematical, and problemsolving abilities, as well as exceptional attention to detail.
  • A thorough knowledge of the standards for quality conformity and continuous improvement.
  • Having a thorough understanding of the deliverables and expectations of the client as well as the costs and effects of failure and subpar quality.
  • Ability to organise and plan throughout various project phases.
  • Excellent Computer skills.
  • Ability to assist the group in achieving goals while staying under budget.
  • Able to work well in a team atmosphere, contributing ideas and giving constructive criticism.
  • Ability to prioritise one's own workload as needed and work under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • An advantage would be to have project management training/qualification.
  • Knowledge of CATIA, GD&T, and 3D CAD is preferred.
