Business Development Manager

Up to £55k basic salary

£90k OTE uncapped

Home-based


We are recruiting for a business development Manager to work with an industry leading sales development & training company selling their solutions to business customers.

The company was a successful start-up in 2011 and is now looking to move into theirnext phase by developing & delivering practical 'new world' sales development training in a changing environment.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with a growing global network of industry leading partners to support key areas of the offering

Your role is to discover new clients and sell in one or more training packages - the products offered by the company are of extra significance given the latest trends for businesses to work from home - a massive opportunity in the L&D landscape.


This role suits a hunter mentality who enjoys building leads, networking, and researching to build and develop a profitable client base, then taking the sale through to conclusion by working consultatively with new clients to develop sales development programsto contract stage.

The typical client is large technology companies with the opportunity to sell in multi-year deals of £300k+ per annum. Smaller companies with headcount are also useful for "one-off" development of their sales teams and L&D rollout (deal size £50k+)


There is the opportunity for this role to develop in year 2 and beyond to include account management of accounts you have brought on board.

This role is home based and as such a driven, motivated individual that has experience working remotely is essential.


Your key responsibilities as a Business Development Manager will be to:

  • Research prospective accounts
  • understand their business and identify how you can add value and/or reduce cost to their existing model
  • Generate opportunities from your own network continually building new profitable leads
  • Effectively navigating customer organisations to identify and influence key decision makers
  • Help the Sales Director build quotations and proposals and develop through the full sales cycle
  • Facilitate the arrangement of client meetings.
  • On occasion, locate and attend business specific networking events to generate additional leads
  • Utilise the CRM system effectively, building a contact plan for longterm sales opportunities
  • To clearly demonstrate your ability to build a pipeline of opportunity in accordance with your targets.

This job is perfect if you:

  • Have previous experience in a similar BDE / BDM role selling within the sales training industry (essential)
  • Possess excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Have experience and the skills to understand a clients' real needs and develop appropriate solutions to engage and delight
  • Are passionate about sales development, sales training and keeping up with the changes within the industry (this includes sales technique trends)
  • Have a demonstrable sales process and enjoy following a lead from inception to close
  • Are a sales motivated individual who enjoys overachieving against targets
  • Display resilience and have natural charm and charisma

In return we are offering:


  • Up to £55,000 per annum
  • Double OTE uncapped


This role is perfect for a business development manager or executive with experience in consultative selling of sales training and associated ancillaries to mid to large private organisations.
