Description
Halland House is a well-established learning disability residential home, located in a beautiful setting in Halland, East Sussex.

We are currently seeking a catering assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive environment, where you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for our residents and helping them to learn how to cook.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Basic breakfast preparations and preparation of occasional home baking (cakes and sandwiches etc).
  • To fill in all necessary legal paperwork where required, i.e. cleaning schedules, temperatures and health and safety paperwork.
  • Stock control and ordering.
  • Prepare food orders for residents.
  • Preparing trays for diners.
  • Full training on cooking and serving our menu will be given.
  • To wash all dirty cooking utensils, crockery, pots and pans using correct machinery and detergents and also wash up by hand when necessary.

Essential Traits:


  • Work well and 'get stuck in'.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate determination and resilience.
  • A positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Extensive catering experience is not so important, however caring about the food you serve is.
  • Ability to be organise and methodical in the kitchen.
  • Hours will be regular.
