Overview
PIMCO is seeking a Portfolio Associate to assist with the Alternative Business.

The Portfolio Associate team directly support Portfolio Managers and build relationships internally with Account Managers, Product Managers, Legal and Compliance counterparts, Operations teams, and other Portfolio Associate teams across the firm's global offices.

On a day-to-day basis, Portfolio Associates use their Fixed Income training to actively monitor portfolios and markets to assist Portfolio Managers in measuring risk and managing client assets.

Portfolio Associates are routinely encouraged to provide creativesolutions and develop key tools and reporting methods to support the Portfolio Management team.

For this specific role there will also be the requirement to provide support to the Investment Risk function, reporting on various risk attributes of portfolios.

Responsibilities:


  • Key driver in process engineering and development to support the alternatives Portfolio Management team
  • Utilize proprietary risk systems for monitoring of portfolio exposures vs investment objectives across target portfolios
  • Coordinate with Cash Management and Alternatives Finance Group for active Cash and Liquidity requirements
  • Work with Risk Management and Product Specialist Groups on attribution/performance metrics and analysis
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with allocations and trade processing as well as management of trade life cycle events across all products
  • Coordinate with functional teams across the firm for new asset setup, compliance monitoring, acct setup and compliance coding, and areas for operational efficiency development
  • Respond to ongoing requests from the Portfolio Management team

Requirements:


  • Degree in finance, economics, mathematics or other related quantitative / analytical field from a leading university or equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of Fixed Income including knowledge of most cash and derivative instruments
  • Experience/understanding of Private Debt, Private Equity, Real Estate and Derivative products
  • Exceptional communication skills are required to operate in a complex financial and mathematical environment


  • Excel "power user"

  • SQL, Python and programming skills are preferred
  • Strong processoriented background and ability to demonstrate keen portfolio risk and operational awareness
  • Outstanding analytical skills with a proven ability to function efficiently and problemsolve in a highpressure and timecritical environment
  • 2+ years of experience with international markets
