This is an exciting opportunity to work in support of MARSOC, the Multi Agency Response to Serious Organised Crime (SOC), a HMPPS led cross-government programme to identify and disrupt the highest-harm SOC nominals who remain criminally active, in prison or whilst under probation supervision.


MARSOC affords the ability to work collaboratively in support of the multi-agency delivery of identifying, assessing and tackling threat, harm and risk of those in prison or under community supervision in the South East region.


This role will form part of a small team, working together in identifying and developing individuals who are deemed to pose the greatest Threat Risk and Harm by seeking opportunities to truly disrupt their ongoing activity, either directly or indirectly.

This role will support force and agency Lead Responsible Officers in their risk assessments and response to such individuals and will seek to achieve strategic objectives set, through operational intervention opportunities held amongst our agencies.


We are looking for a keen and motivated officer, who displays experience in proactive policing with a sound understanding of intelligence development and experience in the operational delivery of paralleling and corroborating their findings with knowledge of the ability to gain evidence leading to successful prosecutions.


Responsibilities

  • To work jointly with MARSOC partners to identify opportunities for disruption of MARSOC individuals within custody and the community and seek criminal justice outcomes of those and their enablers with support from our constituent forces and/or agencies.
  • To maintain close working relationships with MARSOC partners in managing the threat, harm and risk posed by MARSOC individuals including lawful sharing of information and intelligence in a timely manner.
  • Provide tactical support and advice, to all MARSOC partners involved in investigations, interventions and disruptions within custody and the community.
  • Work jointly with MARSOC partners to develop remand and detention strategies and postconviction sentencing and onward management for MARSOC individuals.
  • Undertake and support criminal justice investigations in line with CPIA against MARSOC individuals, their facilitators and enablers as determined by the regional tasking processes.

Required knowledge/skills
Essential

  • Ability to work within a multiagency environment/team and represent Police and partners.
  • Ability to problem solve and take ownership for tackling delivering outcomes against identified SOC individuals.
  • Ability to effectively case manage, work on own initiative and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Displays strong communication skills and is able to demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity.
Desirable

  • Investigative and/or disruptions experience and knowledge of organised crime groups.
  • Knowledge of risk scoring mechanisms.
  • Basic Knowledge of Serious Organised Crime, legislation, structure and practices.
  • Completion of the IPP or experience in the Intelligence arena.
  • Good Knowledge of intelligence handling processes and covert tactics and management of such, in investigations.
  • Knowledge of Regional Prison Estates and criminality within and the methods available to tackle such.

Additional information

  • The posts will be regionally located within the ROCUs, however, there will be significant flexibility around remote working both within police and HMPPS establishments to suit individual and organisational needs.
  • Willing to travel within the region and nationally as required.
  • Willing to undergo enhanced vetting to SC.
  • Must be committed to their own professional development.
