NHS Grampian has a thrilling opportunity for a number of highly skilled, enthusiastic and motivated, newly qualified or established Consultants to join our Emergency Department (ED) teams in the North of Scotland with dual site working in both a specialised tertiary center and a district general hospital.


This recruitment drive will increase our Consultant teams with not only an opportunity to be part of a busy tertiary level major trauma centre but also to work in a district general hospital between Aberdeen and Inverness.


The post holders will join a substantive multi-disciplinary team and will be well supported working in a modern, friendly and well-equipped hospitals in Dr Gray's Hospital, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital which are affiliated with the University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon's University and the University of the Highlands and Islands.


At
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary the Emergency Department is based in the Emergency Care Centre (ECC), a modern purpose-designed facility to support integrated Unscheduled Care Service and Emergency Medicine.

It includes dedicated areas for major and minor presentations, a resuscitation room, dedicated diagnostics, assessment and observation facilities and is physically linked to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital whose Emergency Department for Paediatric presentations which is covered clinically by the same body of Consultants as the adult department.


At
Dr Gray's Emergency Department, we care for a full range of both adult and paediatric cases, including trauma as part of the North of Scotland Major Trauma Network to providing critical care to patients being retrieved to an ICU in a tertiary receiving centre.

Emergency medicine in Dr Gray's covers a wide variety of presentations in a compact but well-equipped unit with adjacent imaging, lab diagnostics and supporting specialties, giving a Consultant the flexibility to demonstrate their wider clinical expertise.


We are supported by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary workforce of Emergency Medical Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Associate Specialists, Core, Specialty, Foundation and GP trainees as well as Physician Associates, Allied Healthcare Professions and Minor Injuries nurse-led teams.

Aberdeenshire and Moray boast many picturesque towns and villages within easy commuting distance and provides access to an enormous range of outdoor pursuits, ranging from fishing to skiing.

There are excellent transport links across and with adjoining regions with Edinburgh and Glasgow, less than 2 hours by train and the ever-expanding Aberdeen and Inverness airports having multiple flights daily to London (1 hour) and many other destinations across the UK and Europe.


Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
