Doncaster

Hours: 40

Applications are sought from substantive Detective Constables to join the Doncaster Prison Team.

As a member of the unit, you will attend a course run by HMPPS which allows you to draw keys for the prison, giving you access to the prison to complete enquires into their ongoing investigations.

The unit deals with a wide variety of offences, including S18 assaults, sexual offences, assaults on staff, and conspiracy to convey items into prison.

The team also investigate the illicit items found within prison, which include mobile phones, drugs and weapons. The team will investigate 'passes' of items by visitors to inmates. They will also investigate deaths in prison to a high standard.

The prison team offers a wealth of opportunity for investigators - the combination of prison records, CCTV, and prison phones (PINS) allows the team to build strong cases, and as a result the unit obtain frequent convictions for their cases at Crown Court.

The prison environment is like no other investigative setting and presents detectives with unique opportunities to develop new skills and work closely with partners.

The unit provides cover for incidents occurring in the four prisons located within Doncaster. The prisons include HMP Doncaster, which as a remand prison holds a wide range of offenders.

The unit predominantly works 8-4 Monday to Friday, but you will cover 1 weekend in every 5 and perform 10:00x18:00 every five weeks for any prison related issues which may arise.

This is an opportunity to develop your partnership working with not only the four prisons, but other agencies including the NCA, MARSOC, NERPIU, HM Probation service and His Majesty's Coroner.
