The Bristol Office is located at 3 Glass Wharf, BS2 0PS.

Attendance at the office is expected in line with requirements as laid down by the Department of Education (DfE) and/or Bristol Office management.

The Post-16 Regions and FE Provider Oversight Directorate within the Skills Group of the DfE works to enable schools, academies, colleges, and independent learning providers to offer high quality education and training to young people and adults in England so that young people and adults can reach their potential, regardless of their background.


Job description:

The South West and South Territorial Team work with colleges and training providers in the geography


Our key focus is:
- identifying, managing and mitigating risk to provision and public funding
- intervening early to prevent and address failure, minimising the impact on students
- early intervention - preventative action and risk management to prevent an organisation being placed under formal intervention
- formal intervention
- where the team is working with struggling providers
- work on sector restructuring e.g. mergers

The team provides the outward interface for the DfE with FE providers. In doing so we work with a wide network of colleagues from across the DfE.

Executive Officers (EO) in the DfE provide key support in the delivery of world-class policy development and business delivery. They are crucial to ensuring the smooth and effective running of the business, wherever they are based. They work with pace to provide high quality support to their customers and colleagues.


Person specification:


Working within the South West and South Territorial Team, you will have the opportunity to provide vital and wide-ranging support to different projects and individual team members.

You will be supporting colleagues in their high-level work to help them deliver important priority tasks.


If exceptionally organised, focused and professional describes you, then the role of Executive Officer / PA to the Deputy Director (DD) Post 16 Regions and Provider Oversight could be for you.


The role is based in Bristol and also includes supporting the wider Territorial Team on administration tasks and communicate with our customers.

We envisage that the split will be 50% / 50% with a level of flexibility depending on the need.

This is an important role that demands the highest standards of efficiency, professionalism and organisation.

The role is fast-paced and dynamic. It requires excellent communication skills, strong judgement, the ability to prioritise and time manage.


Responsibilities

To provide diary and administrative support to the Territorial Team Deputy Director including:

  • Make diary arrangements on behalf of the DD ensuring that their calendar is kept up
