JOB DESCRIPTION - Academic Mentor
POSITION:
Academic Mentor (secondary and 16+)

PAY:
35 hours per week, term time + 1 week (A Level / GCSE exam results support). 8am until 4pm with 2 x 30 min breaks.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
- To provide academic support to identified groups of students at the direction of the AVP Student Achievement, based on student progress data and staff referrals
- To lead academic mentoring / targeted focus group sessions for students to ensure progress in their identified areas of skills/understanding
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- To work with students to support academic engagement and progress, including managing workload and studyrelated anxieties
- To plan and facilitate 11, small group and larger cohort sessions (e.g. Right Start sessions, study strategies, personal organisation ) for students and guidance for parents
- To track and monitor student engagement and progress within a programme of academic mentoring
- To communicate with students, parents and teachers, providing progress updates as required
- To liaise with parents to support student learning outside of the classroom if appropriate
- To regularly update the relevant Head of Year/Head of Sixth Form and AVP to review effectiveness and impact
- To facilitate assemblies in line with year team priorities
- To act as a point of contact for 16+ student wellbeing concerns
