We have a fantastic opportunity for an Energy and Emissions Analyst to join our team based anywhere in England in a flexible role.

The salary on offer is up to £35,000 and is a Permanent role.


The Energy and Emissions Analyst will form part of the wider Energy & Environment team and will be a key role in helping NHS Property Services to deliver energy, carbon and cost savings whilst also ensuring environmental compliance and improvement acrossthe estate.

The role reports directly to the Senior Utilities Data Manager and sits within our 'utilities focus area'.


With NHSPS recently committing to Net Zero Carbon and a programme of works to support the delivery of these ambitions having been defined, the team is being expanded to meet these increasingly complex demands.

As such, the Energy & Emissions Analyst rolehas been created to support data collection, emission conversion and reporting demands.

This new role will deliver key information and portfolio insight to review progress against carbon reduction targets, maintain compliance, whilst also playing a vital rolein improving access to data, expanding data sets where we currently have limited visibility and reducing operational carbon emissions.

About the role:


  • Create and maintain a compliant carbon footprint calculation incorporating direct and indirect emissions
  • Undertake gap analysis in our reporting, identify and define strategies to capture mandatory data and execute initiatives to improve access to data
  • Expand data collection to include Scope 3 emissions and NHS+ emissions
  • Undertake carbon impact assessments, scenario modelling and carbon business case calculations
  • Maintain carbon budget tools and report on progress against regional carbon saving targets
  • Develop tools to improve customer reporting of carbon emissions
  • Provide data to NHS Customers and Tenants to support their carbon reporting obligations
  • Review performance of generation asset data to ensure maximum cost and carbon efficiency
  • Identify priority areas to reduce carbon emissions and liaise with stakeholders to ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Add value to daily tasks requests by identifying ways to set up new processes or update existing ones
  • Maintaining data integrity and updating relevant record systems accurately
  • Provide support on delivery of E&E data collection projects e.g. AMR/SMART/C36
  • Work towards team goals and targets, meeting KPIs as determined by the Senior Utilities Data Manager
  • Ensure compliance to GHG emission reporting mandatory requirements
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by the Energy & Environment directorate

Skills & Experience:


  • Experience in effectively managing large data sets from multiple sources
  • Experience with energy, waste and transport emission data
  • Experience of being responsible for / playing a significant role in carbon reporting compliance schemes (e.g. TCFD, ESOS, SECR)
  • Experience of developing carbon footprint calculations

Desirable:


  • Experience working across various energy reporting platforms
  • Working with large portfolios

Capabilities:


  • Numerically competent with high degree of accuracy
  • Strong MS Excel skills (Vlookup, Function, SUMIF, and Pivots)
  • Adaptable to data set formats
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use initiative, be proactive and effectively prioritise tasks
  • Ability to drive continuous process improvement and best practice
  • Customer focussed
  • Demonstrates integrity, empathy, discretion, and professionalism

Desirable:


  • Can assimilate complex information and distil into relevant insights
  • Strong computer literacy especially on energy software platforms

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GHG reporting standards
  • Knowledge of carbon reporting compliance schemes
  • Knowledge of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions

Desirable:


  • Knowledge of NHS Carbon Footprint Plus
  • Knowledge of TCFD
  • Degree in relatable area

Desirable:


  • Masters degree in relatable area
  • Membership to a relevant energy / environment professional body (e.g. IEMA, CIBSE)
