Place of Safety (POS) is safe area for patients who may be posing a risk to the public with various mental health issues.
The police can use the law (the mental health act) to take people from a public place to a 'place of safety' if they seem to have a mental illness and be in the need of care.
Place of Safety is a place where mental health professionals can then assess people's mental state and determine whether they require treatment or further support.
