Description

One YMCA is entering a period of rapid expansion and growth, with aspirations to both diversify and strengthen our housing provision.

Working with and supported by local partners, whilst accessing a range of funding streams, we aim to successfully deliver the 2025 Missions 25 (5 year) strategy to end / reduce homelessness and rough sleeping across the three counties.

Whilst part of a rapidly expanding staff team, currently with over 100 employees, we are recruiting to supported housing worker roles to work with residents in our Hatfield young people services ( working with 16-17 year old and 18-25 year old).

These roles are part of a small team delivering accommodation and support to local individuals.

Support will be delivered in a person-centred way, aiming to understand the strengths of individuals.

Residents will be supported to get the most from their accommodation placement while also planning for their future and more independent living.

These roles may require working flexible hours in accordance with the rota, as set out by the line manager, and in line with the needs of the service users.

This is an exciting time to be joining One YMCA as we embark on an ambitious plan to grow our housing service and double the impact, we have across all our accommodation sites.

In 2020/21 we provided over 185,030 nights of safe and secure accommodation to those most in need.

Providing considerably more than just accommodation, our highly experienced support and complex-needs team deliver over 23,000 housing related support sessions each year through which our housing team were able to support a total of 992 vulnerable individuals to escape homelessness and rough sleeping with 463 of our residents being helped to move-on positively into their own long term settled accommodation.

By the end of these three days, there was a brilliantly multi-faceted set of themes and ideas, which formed the starting point for the rest of the Mission 25 process to build on.

The aim of Mission 25 is to give every staff member and volunteer the opportunity to play their part in shaping the strategy to do "more and better, together" so that we double our impact by 2025.

We deliver a vast array of services across Herts, Beds and Bucks that reach over 135,000 individuals annually.

These include:

  • Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people
  • Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
  • Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
  • Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
  • Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
  • Family support through a network of children's and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
  • Therapeutic and nontherapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
  • Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire, Luton and Hertfordshire
  • Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 1119 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
  • A community gym where everyone can enjoy the benefits of physical exercise Our values remain at the forefront of how we operate as a charity, and it is important to us that all staff and volunteers can fully buy in to our ethos.
