Admiral is diversifying into the Fleet market and is keen to draw in some expertise from individuals who have underwriting experience writing fleet business for at least one of these segments: Self Drive Hire, vehicle subscriptions, salary sacrifice and car clubs.

This an exciting opportunity for someone with the relevant experience to join the start of an exciting journey


Responsibilities include:


  • Providing excellent quality service to customers and brokers in line with service levels
  • Delivering quality underwriting decisions within your designated authority
  • Providing expert Underwriting advice to other areas of the business and act as a senior referral point across the business
  • Development and maintenance of underwriting rules, processes and guidance
  • Influencing change by identifying and building an awareness of gaps, risks and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining good stakeholder/SME relationships across the business and ensuring changes are communicated effectively
  • Monitoring the performance of motor fleet account at a portfolio level and liaise with other functions within the business to enact change where necessary for example pricing, claims etc
  • Create and maintain underwriting procedures, controls, authority limits, and underwriting standards supporting senior management with the continual review of this framework

Essential skills and experience:


Underwriting experience in:

  • Car rental, car clubs, peertopeer cars, vehicle subscription
  • Fleet management, fleet insurance, commercial brokerage
  • Working within a B2B environment and dealing with B2B customers
  • Fintech/insurtech
  • The ability to challenge ideas and use previous experience to identify gaps and improvements that can be made for the customer and business
  • Proactive and innovative able to think outside the box
  • Good knowledge of commercial motor insurance, legislation and regulation
  • Ability to convey technical information efficiently to nontechnical audiences and to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Team player with proven ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable skills

  • A high degree of financial awareness with a thorough understanding of the technical elements of insurances products and portfolios
  • 5 years of experience in Commercial Motor Fleet products

Location / Working Arrangements
We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). There is a requirement to work in our Cardiff-based office once a week (Tuesdays).
