Salary:
£45,000 to £50,000 per annum


Working Hours:
Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week

We are actively seeking to recruit a Medical Gas & Ventilation Specialist to join our team at our Churchill Hospital contract based in Oxford, OX3 7LE.The hours of work are 40 per week, as required to perform the role.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Operate within planned maintenance procedures for assets etc, effectively and safely within their range of qualifications, levels of competence, training and experience.
  • Deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets etc. within their range of qualifications, levels of competence, training and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary.
  • Act as AP for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Medical Gases on site and undertake specialist works including planning of these in line with HTM 0301 and HTM 020
  • Liaise with AE for Ventilation and Medical Gases and Trust Infection Prevention & Control to ensure compliance with HTMs is achieved.
  • Write up maintenance reports and technical procedures for Building Maintenance Activities allied to Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Medical Gases.
  • Assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities including the mentor of CP's.
  • Manage the maintenance, inspection and repairs to various types of ventilation and medical gas systems including equipment and services on site, where necessary and within their range of qualifications, levels of competence, training and experience.
  • Diagnosing faults on Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Medical Gas support systems and rectifying where necessary and within their range of qualifications, levels of competence, training and experience.
  • Following detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and reactive repairs.
  • Assisting in the development of maintenance routines, procedures, risk assessments, preparing and maintaining relevant technical records and reports.
  • Working with other craft qualified, semiskilled and unskilled maintenance staff to develop cross
- skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis.

  • Participate in emergency call out arrangements and provide cover where necessary during sickness absence periods.
  • Carry out maintenance activities to assist in project and improvement development works, offering alternatives to improve the effectiveness of the operation of the site, review current legislation / regulations within their range of qualifications, levelsof competence, training and experience.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Essential Criteria:


  • Minimum of 4 years experience within building and facilities maintenance.
  • Minimum of Level 3 Qualification in related trade.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage Staff and Subcontractors.

Desirable Criteria:


  • Experience of working in Health Care Facilities/Pharmaceutical or Manufacturing environments.
  • High level specialism in Mechanical systems.
  • Experience of BMS systems.
  • Ventilation / Medical Gas AP status.
  • 18th Edition (IET) Wiring Regulations.
  • Underfloor Heating.
  • Ground Source Heat Systems.
  • ONC / HND / Degree Qualification in Mechanical or other associated engineering qualification.
