My client is a technology consultancy company based in Richmond, they have a role for a Automation Tester.
The Automation Tester is dedicated to ensuring that our client's products meet the end user and customer requirements and that all our deliverables are fit for purpose.
This is a hands-on role - you will be carrying out manual and automated testing of our client's software to optimise the use of these resources and thus the quality of the software released.
My client is a growing company and as such can be expected to make changes to its organisational structure and line management from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for analysing, generating, estimating and delivering Use Cases and Test plans within the constraints of time, cost and quality, to the customer's satisfaction within the team.
- To be actively involved in evolving and improving the testing methodology across Engineering teams building on automation and scripting.
- Drive continuous process improvement.
- To undertake such other work as is necessary to achieve the overall objectives of the System Test Team.
- Develop and maintain test scripts as required.
- Record and report all findings in accordance with Quality levels and procedures.
- Compile and produce end stages reports and summaries as required.
- Retest amended software as required.
- Solution focused, not technology biased; will seek the appropriate tool for the job
- IT literate, must be adept in use of Microsoft Office 2003 or later and other Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Oracle SQL and database knowledge would be beneficial.
- A strong understanding of testing and automation technologies from both a technical and business perspective, specifically writing Test Plans, Test specifications and Test Reports
- Use of defect tracking systems and version control systems is essential
- Must be a good communicator, face to face and telephone.
- Sound understanding of structured software testing essential.
- Knowledge on how to upgrade hardware would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of automated test tools would be beneficial.
- Experience of using scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell scripts ) for automating tests is essential.
