About the Role


This is an exciting opportunity for a Widening Access Officer to join the Widening Access and Participation team to support the University in furthering its Widening Access objectives, and achieving the targets outlined in our Access and Participation Plan (APP) through the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of targeted programmes and events for prospective students and their supporters.


You will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the Widening Access and Participation team, and with colleagues from across the University on a range of targeted programmes and events.

You will be able to work independently, being responsible for the development of new programmes and activity to support our APP and you will also be able to effectively influence others to help in the fulfilment of strategic aims by leading, inspiring and developing effective informal teams and networks.


About You

As Widening Access Officer, you will:

  • Be able to work independently, being responsible for the development of new programmes and activity to support our APP.
  • Effectively influence others to help in the fulfilment of strategic aims by leading, inspiring and developing effective informal teams and networks.
  • Have good analytical skills for working with data in order to take an evidence based, Theory of Change approach to project design and development.
  • Have excellent communication skills in order to build relationships with teachers, adviser, community and cultural groups as well as colleagues from within the institution.


It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure for you from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
