In this role, you will lead and take ownership of the delivery of The Openwork Partnership's Sustainability strategy. Including embedding it across all areas of the business and group entities and driving adoption across the network.


You will also direct and lead the Openwork Foundation, as a registered charity, to deliver maximum public benefit to vulnerable communities in society, promoting the Openwork Foundation as an integral part of the culture and ethos of The Openwork Partnership and as a key pillar in our Sustainability Strategy.


Key Accountabilities:


Delivery

Sustainability

  • Navigating, influencing and cutting through organisation complexities to allow us to deliver on sustainability commitments.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance anticipate sustainability related regulatory trends and their implications, assess risk management, drive compliance with applicable regulation across the group (i.e. SDR in Omnis).
  • Advising boards and contributing to governance bodies across the organisation.
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with changes in the external sustainability environment. Managing and assisting with the production of ESG/Sustainability monitoring and reporting (Including collating data and metrics and following required reporting standards.

The Openwork Foundation

  • Support communities to improve the quality of life for vulnerable people in society.
  • Leadership of the Openwork Foundation Team.
  • Produce strategic and annual business plans with appropriate but stretching targets for approval by Board of Trustees and sub committees.
  • Propose strategic changes relating to the running of the Foundation for approval by chair and Board of Trustees and/or sub committees.
  • Responsible for 3year financial forecasting and maintaining appropriate charity reserves position, supported by management accounts and with sign off by Board of Trustees.

Communication & Advocacy

  • Oversee delivery of the Foundation communication strategy
  • Maintain support of the Foundation and the Sustainability Strategy from the Openwork Partnership executives and senior managers by proactive networking and relationship building.
  • Work with the business to ensure activity is 'joined up' and where possible synergies are maximised.
  • Monitor engagement with The Foundation and Sustainability across the group.
  • Attend, actively contribute and advise Openwork Foundation Sub-Committee meetings (Grant and Fundraising).

Governance & Controls

  • Embedding sustainability into processes and decision making; engaging with Executives on progress against Sustainability targets on the Functional Scorecards
  • Oversight of Openwork's carbon footprint and ownership of route to net zero by 2030
  • Plan and produce agenda for 4 or 5 Trustee Board meetings per annum agreed with Chair of Trustees. With support from Co Sec, oversee production of board papers.
  • Measure progress against plan and provide quarterly updates on activity and progress to Board of Trustees.
  • Lead, with Co Sec support, Trustees annual declarations of interest.

What will you need to succeed?:

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and its impact to the Openwork Partnership's Sustainability strategy.
  • Sustainability/ESG related qualifications or demonstratable experience.
  • Ability to manage the Charity as an independent not for profit business unit within the Openwork Partnership.
  • Broad experience of the voluntary sector.
  • Significant fundraising and charity law experience.

  • Up to £95,000
  • Bonus scheme on target bonus 17.5%
