Overview of Responsibilities
We are looking for an Asset Management Leader to join the 'Office of the Chief Engineer' Department.

This Department provides technical governance for the full lifecycle of all UKAEA's engineering activities, providing the 'Engineering Authority' and 'Fusion Safety Authority' that are so important to realising effective, safe technical outcomes.

The Asset Management role is a key aspect of that governance.

Who are we looking for?

Have you got proven experience in successfully embedding the Asset Management function (people, processes, and tools) within an complex organisation.

Are you comfortable with driving strategic asset management direction and supporting that plan on behalf of an organisation. This will include influencing future development throughout process maturity.

What will you be responsible for?

  • To establish the asset management organisation and team throughout UKAEA at a strategic level
  • As this is a major sitewide transformation process, the AM Leader will need to orchestrate the delivery of AM throughout its rollout and embedding stages to ensure sustainability can be achieved.
  • To facilitate and enable the organisation to develop effective, efficient asset management ways of working (encompassing people, processes and tools).
  • To challenge the business to continually improve asset performance, providing recommendations and options via a periodically updated strategic asset management plan (SAMP) for our overall asset portfolio. This shall then then be tailored and cascaded to facility level in accordance with the agreed profile of technical / operational / cost risk.
  • To challenge the business to continually improve its asset management capability and ways of working via a periodically updated strategic development plan (SDP).
Salary
£60,317 to £63,855 (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits including outstanding pension

Qualifications

Essential skills, experience and competence required

  • Experience developing and embedding new ways of working within an organisation (people, process, tools) and beyond (e.g. standards development)
  • Leadership and delivery of Asset Management:
  • in an operationally demanding business with complex plants
- developing effective performance metrics to enable effective organisational decision-making
- achieving demonstrable, measurable asset performance improvements
- stakeholder engagement to build relationships for understanding and embedding of new practices

  • Embedded organisational and cultural change through effective planning and delivery
  • Leadership and management of diverse teams, both directly and matrix managed
  • Able to be both detailoriented & consider 'bigger' picture, dependent on the situation
  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels (workshop to Csuite)

Desirable skills, experience and competence

  • Comfortable with decision making and effective in delegation
  • Personal resilience (determination, able to work under pressure, comfortable with differences of opinion and able to mediate)
  • Via formal logic, selfawareness and knowledge of biases, able to influence and persuade others to alternate points of view
  • Champion of ALARP, pragmatism, challenge / speaking up and appropriate levels of rigour.
