Warehouse Operative - Signal Plastics (Part of the Omega Plastics Group)
Signal Plastics is a plastic injection moulding business that makes and assembles parts for automotive, industrial and technical customers.

We operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week with injection moulding presses ranging in size from 40 tonnes to 1,300 tonnes, some with robot demoulding and packing capability.


We are recruiting a
Warehouse Operative to join our Warehouse and Logistics Team, which is committed to providing exceptional service to our customers and colleagues.


This is a
full-time,
permanent role with an
immediate start directly employed by us, based at our site on Bentall Business Park in Washington.


You must be over 18 and eligible to live and work in the UK, and be able to provide evidence of this.


Key tasks

  • Dealing with customer schedules, pick sheets, requests and concerns
  • Dealing with delivery and shipping paperwork
  • Loading and unloading various size vehicles, communicating with drivers
  • Undertaking pick activities, goods in and shipping
  • Communicating priorities to colleagues in other teams
  • Complete and follow shift handover detailing all relevant information
  • Always operating in a safe manner, maintaining a safe and organised working environment and good 5S
  • Delivering goods where necessary using our van

Skills and Experience

  • Counterbalance FLT experience within last 3 years (
    ESSENTIAL)
  • Bendi forklift training (
    PREFFERED):
  • Past automotive experience (
    PREFFERED)
  • Experience of using pick sheet and or shipping schedules
  • Experience of working in warehouse and or stores/goods in
  • Production facility experience
  • Daily 5s routine
  • Driving licence (
    PREFFERED)

The Person

  • Reliable and have a flexible approach to working patterns, job rotation and overtime
  • Physically fit to be able to lift boxes onto or off vans
  • Basic IT skills to use MS Word, Excel and printer/scanner
  • Willingness to learn new skills and or systems (eg: Sage 200)
  • Commitment to safe and careful handling of materials and goods
  • Safetyconscious attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, building positive relationships with colleagues and managers
  • Calm, assured and able to work under pressure
  • Confidence to identify and raise any concerns with colleagues and managers

Working pattern and pay
Pay is £11.40 per hour for day shift (37.5 hours per week). Shifts are on a 3 shift rotation pattern of days, backs and nights. You will receive shift allowance increases for back shift and night shift.

There will occasionally be overtime and we ask for flexibility in being available for this. Overtime is paid at 1.5 x normal rate for the shift.
