Personal Support Services (PSS)


Responsible To:
PSS Lead


Purpose of the Job:


To assist the PSS Lead to provide high quality, safe effective and efficient services ensuring it is maintained and delivered in accordance with users and staff needs and meets the industry leading standard.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, Implement and co-ordinate activities for children, young people and adults with the PSS department.


Ensure activities support and enable independence and provide meaningful and educational skills and life experiences for the better living and equality of the service users.

Supervise staff to ensure the safety of all users and colleagues through systematic assessment, monitoring and review including spot checks and plans that meet the

DABD strategic goals; contractual requirements of related commissioners and other regulatory bodies in accordance with best practices, policy, procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, and relevant regulations.


Manage staff performance, motivation and conduct by undertaking recruitment, induction, supervision, and appraisals within agreed timescales, identifying, and supporting any development and coaching needs.

Set and communicate clearly and professionally individual and team responsibilities, targets and expectations linked to the strategic objectives. Monitor progress and recognise high performance and reward achievements. Lead and encourage continuous improvement and resolve any issues or conflicts.

Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.

Report to the Divisional Lead any issues regarding performance, conduct or legislative requirements and as required review the divisional operational plan with the Division
Lead.

Liaise with healthcare professionals to users receive required care.

Ensure new service users are assessed appropriately.

Support and assist the Divisional Lead and perform management duties in their absence.

Report all incidents/near-misses/accidents/financial issues and act as an escalation point for emergencies. Where necessary address complaints, concerns, and investigations.

Produce accurate factual documentation and records promptly as required. Ensure timesheets and pay details are correct for payroll.

Ensure systems and processes are run in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards.

Maintain confidentiality.

Support the development and implementation of new projects/initiatives in the division

Undertake training as required.

Comply with the requirements of Data Protection Act 2018, the General Data Protection

Regulation (GDPR) and all internal policies, procedures and guidelines produced and made available to you in accordance with this legislation

Comply with DABD's Health & Safety regulations

Carry out all responsibilities and duties in accordance with Equality and Diversity policy

Provide support and guidance to families

Carry out risk assessments

Support DABD Volunteers

Ensure processes are adhered to and reviewed.


The above-mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as may be required by the Service Lead or a member of the SLT within the grading level of this post and the competence of the post holder.

1 Understanding of legislation and principles regarding care provision and regulatory boards e.g. Ofsted

2 Sound understanding of good care practise

3 Experience leading a team

4 Attention to detail and accuracy

5 Excellent planning and organisational skills

6 IT literate

7 Good literacy, numeracy and report writing skills

8 Experience working with SEND needs of children and young people

Desirable


  • Previous management experience within SEND
  • Previous experience working with EHC Plans
  • NVQ EYD training or degree minimum?
