Rattray Primary School

We are looking for a Pupil Care & Welfare Officer to join us at Rattray Primary School.

As our Pupil Care & Welfare Officer you will:

  • Develop positive relationships with children whilst promoting our ethos and values.
  • Encourage respect for the school environment.
  • Help to maintain the safety of pupils arriving/leaving school and during interval and lunchtime.
  • Help to maintain the safe behaviour of pupils in teaching and nonteaching areas of school.
  • Improve attendance and late coming by monitoring attendance data and patterns, liaising with pupils and parents as appropriate. You will also undertake associated administrative duties with this task.
  • Be the first point of contact for pupils on routine issues.
  • Liaise with and relay messages to the school leadership team and other school staff.
  • Make contact with parents on routine matters.
  • Carry out early identification and deescalating of potential situations which may lead to challenging behaviour.
  • Encourage respect for the school environment
  • Undertake any other duties or associated admin that will support the wellbeing of young people as directed by the school leadership team.

Requirements:


Knowledge & Experience

  • You must have experience of working with people.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a health and safety environment.
  • There are no formal qualifications required for this post however ideally you will have evidence of educational qualifications gained.
  • You must have the ability to handle issues with tact and sensitivity.
  • You must be tolerant.
  • You must have the ability to organise agreed priorities.

Customer Care

  • You must be able to demonstrate that you can both work individually and as a member of a team.

Health & Safety

  • You must be able to attend on a regular basis and cope with the demands of the job.

Equality & Dignity at Work

  • You must be able to treat pupils, colleagues, parents and the community in accordance with the Council's policies on equalities and dignity at work.

Communications

  • You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • You must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and pupils.

  • Ideally you will be willing to be involved in school community life and whole school events/projects.

Achievement of Results

  • You must show a readiness to participate in self evaluation and Employee Review and Development (ERD) processes.
  • Ideally you will be willing to participate in ongoing training and development.

  • You must demonstrate effective participation in a team situation.

Decision Making & Problem Solving

  • You must be alert and ready to respond to problems and ideally you will have problem solving skills.
