Are you an experienced cancer nurse looking for your next career move or already working in a similar capacity and looking for a new challenge?


Due to the promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Nursing Leadership team as the Matron for the Network Service Division at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool.


The role of the Matron is fundamental to ensuring patients receive safe, high quality care, and a positive patient experience which is responsive to the needs of our patients, families and their carers.


Therefore we are seeking a senior nurse who has strong leadership skills to play a key role in being responsible for and further developing our services across the Networked Service Division, with a permanent base location based at Clatterbridge Wirral.

Working closely with the Matron, the General Manager and the Divisional Nurse Director for Networked services, the post holder will be an individual who is a self-starter and able to support, engage, inspire and develop their teams to enable them to provide the highest quality of care to patients and their colleagues


The post holder will also require the knowledge, skill, and attention to detail to continue to deliver real improvements in quality; working closely with the divisional team to ensure patient care is delivered safely across the out patient departments.


The post holder will:

Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and
demonstration of competent, accountable clinical practice.
Ensure that the environment meets appropriate standards for health care delivery, and
delivers best practice in infection control.
Provide day-to-day visible, accessible and authoritative leadership in clinical areas.
Ensure the delivery of patient care is of the highest standard and those patients and their
families are treated with dignity and respect.
Actively support the Division in the provision of high quality, modern, dynamic and patient
centred services.
Provide support to patients and their relatives/carers.

Be responsible for optimising patient flow and access through their areas of responsibility
through strategies to prevent delays and optimise utilisation.
To support the Division in the delivery of key performance targets
Will support the General Manager with the clinical management of the Division.


The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.


Our flagship specialist cancer hospital opening in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.


Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.

We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).


Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical - To ensure that the highest standards of clinical care are provided and monitored
within their areas
Provision of professional leadership, motivation and supervision to ensure high standards of patient care.
Act as a credible role model for the Division that will involve a clinical commitment.
Daily visibility and contact with areas within sphere of responsibility and undertake as a minimum a weekly ward walk around with all unit coordinators

To ensure professional nursing advice is provided to the specialty and Divisional team, using the expertise of nurse specialists and nurse consultants where appropriate.

To support all grades of staff in resolving clinical issues whilst ensuring that the fundamentals of care are right.

Facilitate and support clinical leads /ward manager to develop effective working relationships with the multidisciplinary team to enhance the care and management of patients.

Ensure all investigations into complaints/litigation/adverse events are completed competently and within agreed time-scales.
