Summary

We are looking for a Careers Strategy Lead to be part of a leading education charity where your work will have a real impact on the quality, outcomes, and destinations of our students.


As an integral part of the Harris Federation, our Careers Team work collaboratively across all 30 Harris Secondary Schools to provide the very best careers information, advice and guidance within the guidelines of the Gatsby benchmarks.

The core values of our team are to address the needs of every individual and provide the education and experiences they need for future success.

You will be responsible for delivering the vision that provides an outstanding careers education across all Harris academies.

Due to the changing landscape of vocational education, this role is incredibly important and you will lead the transition to enhance work-based learning, T-Levels, and alternative academic qualifications in our schools.

Main Areas of Responsibility

The objectives of your role will be:

  • To lead the careers education and industry partnerships at the Harris Federation
  • To develop and implement an effective Federationwide careers strategy
  • To ensure all students receive a firstclass careers education which supports their educational transitioning and future pathways
  • To create a student apprenticeship programme
  • To lead Harris Careers Strategy through vocational and technical education reform and introduction of T Levels, specifically through industry partnerships for T Levels and reformed VTQs
  • To build an employer engagement access programme which allows all students to gain access to all relevant sectors of industry.

In this diverse role, you will:

  • Line manage and lead the Head of Careers and careers team.
  • Develop a creative, forwardthinking careers strategy which embeds student pathways.
  • Implement a careers programme across the federation which addresses all the Gatsby benchmarks and meets Provider Access Legislation
  • Develop and advise academies on the delivery of a comprehensive and effective careers curriculum
  • Review careers resourcing across the Federation
  • Centralise and standardise key documentation and review cycles
  • Coordinate appropriate training
  • Review and plan a new approach to supporting the delivery of vocational education
  • Develop a Harris student apprenticeship strategy
  • Oversee the development and management of work experience, industry placement and employer engagement schemes
  • Create a network of links with national and local employers so that Harris students are given fantastic opportunities
  • Forge opportunities to promote Harris careers
  • Create a termly calendar of tailored, high profile careers events
  • Monitor and review academy websites to ensure they are all compliant
  • Oversee and support academy reviews of the careers provision

Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • A Diploma in Careers Guidance or Qualification in Careers Guidance to Level
  • GCSE maths and English Language at A*-C (4-9)
  • A levels or equivalent
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working in the vocational education landscape
  • Experience of delivering strategic change within an educat
