York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to welcome Consultants in Older People's Medicine to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team of Geriatricians based at York Hospital.

We have two exciting posts available due to a combination of new funding and a retirement.

This is an exciting time for an individual to become involved in further developing and leading a new Virtual Frailty Ward with other opportunities for leading Dementia care.

We would also welcome interest from those who can bring other specialist interests to the team at York.

We are looking to welcome


The Directorate of Older People's Health encompasses a number of specialist services, including a Frailty rapid assessment area, dedicated Acute medical and Short Stay Facilities, Specialist Hip Fracture unit with Orthopaedic Liaison, Hyper-Acute Care and Stroke Rehabilitation Services, Parkinson's Care and a dedicated Dementia and Delirium Unit.

We also provide clinical input into two of our local community hospitals.


York Hospital is located just minutes away from the historic city centre of York which is home to various restaurants, bars, shops and theatres perfect for all ages.

There are many bus routes accessible throughout York and the train station is only a ten-minute drive from the hospital with regular services to surrounding areas such as Leeds and the ability to travel to London in under 2 hours.

The posts are offered as 10 programmed activities (PAs) over four days and currently include an on-call commitment of 1 in 11 for Older People's Medicine.

We are open to discuss any specific or specialised job plans, including flexible/less than full time working. The department strives to achieve a collective work ethos to help to maintain long term sustainability to work-life balance.
