This is exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and credible Procurement Professional to join the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Procurement team.


The SYB Pathology network builds on the high quality pathology services currently provided in each of the five Acute Trusts to provide the best possible service for patients across the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint.

It is our mission to deliver high-quality and innovative laboratory medicine solutions to patients, clinicians and partners to improve health, add value to patient care, safeguard best clinical outcomes and support the transformation of healthcare across SYB and beyond.


The Pathology Procurement Team are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Procurement Specialist with substantial experience of working in a public sector procurement environment.


The postholder will work with stakeholders to enhance relationships, drive productive collaboration and effective forward planning to manage pathology activity.


Reporting to the Head of Pathology Procurement, the Procurement Specialist will provide procurement expertise to stakeholders within the 5 Acute Trusts which form the Pathology Network.

The post holder will advise on successful contracting within the context of UK public procurement regulations and the Trust's internal regulations and policies.

Whilst Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is host employer the post holder may be required to undertake duties at any of the sites within the Network, these include;
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT)

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTHFT)

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT)

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT).

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term/Secondment contract basis for a period until 31st March 2025 due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust.

The fixed term/secondment contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project's implementation and the timescales associated with this.
