Chief Risk Officer

International Bank

Retail/Trade Finance and Corporate Focused Bank

£110 - £160 k depending on experience.


My client, a small international bank are looking to employ a Chief Risk Officer to manage and have oversight of Credit, Market, Operational and Liquidity Risk.

To run oversight on the banks Risk frameworks and check that good for purpose.

The Chief RiskOfficer will have experience to have:

  • Full management of all aspects of the risk team
  • Monitoring and Oversight and Management of Credit, Operational, Market and Liquidity risk
  • Preparation and updating of ICAAP, ILAAP, CFP, RRP and other Risk Policies
  • Maintenance and analysis of the Enterprise Risk Register, ensuring root cause analysis of all material risk incidents, and providing recommendations on risk mitigation actions
  • Oversee stress testing of risk exposures to identify sensitivities and identification and articulation of reverse stress test scenarios
  • Last line of defence for credit proposals and oversight of credit processes and procedures
  • Stress testing of risk exposures
  • Guidance and support the whole Risk team
  • Horizon scanning for all emerging and future risks
  • Risk Recovery process and procedures once a risk even has occurred
  • Risk training
  • Work alogside compliance to establish and maintain bank acceptable compliance procedures

Chief Risk Officer Skills

  • In depth knowledge of credit risk associated with fixed income, trade finance, syndicated loans and retail banking products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices and principles of the PRA & FCA, specifically in respect of risk management
  • At least five years' experience of a senior risk management function within a similar financial institution and have been previously approved by the PRA in an SMF4 function
  • Analytical skills including the ability to analyse processes and procedures to identify, mitigate risks or analyse a situation to assess the risks
  • Ability to influence other senior managers in a collaborative positive manner
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Good understanding of Risk Software
