Description
Please note this post is to commence in August 2024.

Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow (Clinical Fellow - post)

Applications are invited for two posts of Senior Upper Limb Fellow at the Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust. Elective operating takes place at the purpose-built Manchester Orthopaedic Centre at Trafford Hospital. The posts are available for a period of 6 months, with potential to extend to 12 months. The post-holders will join a dynamic and innovative upper-limb team with active research and clinical interests. The post will involve wide exposure in arthroscopic and open shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroplasty and trauma.

The post-holder should be able to demonstrate a subspecialty interest and experience in shoulder & elbow surgery.

Applicants should have full GMC registration, completed the FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent and ideally have CCT or CESR in trauma and orthopaedics.

The post has an on-call commitment.

There will be ample research and publication opportunities, with active involvement in the trials that are running within the upper limb department.

This advanced fellowship in upper limb surgery will focus on elective and traumatic conditions of the shoulder and elbow.

This is suitable for surgeons from the UK and elsewhere who are close to completion, or have completed their orthopaedic training and wish to pursue a career in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Dedicated time will be allocated to departmental research, including the current RCT investigating rehabilitation following shoulder surgery.

The post-holder will be accountable to the Lead Clinician.
