An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, proactive support secretary within the Breast services team based at Ipswich Hospital.


This is an exciting time to join the friendly and patient focused breast care team as the service is moving into a new dedicated breast care centre on the Ipswich hospital site.


You will manage all of the administrative functions of the Breast Pain Service as well as supporting the management of the theatre diary, processing Electronic referrals, audio typing of clinical dictations.


You should be an excellent communicator, able to manage your own workload and have the the ability to calmly prioritise tasks when faced with conflicting deadlines.


  • Manage all incoming telephone queries, reply to messages in a timely manner, forwarding queries that need a clinical response to appropriate colleagues.
  • Liaise with the operational coordinator on areas of concern relating to activity and capacity.
  • Prioritise patients in accordance with Local and National policies.
  • Monitor waiting lists to ensure an equitable service is being offered to all patients in line with Referral To Treatment waiting times. Maintain and validate all waiting lists in accordance with Trust and Department of Health guidelines.
  • Proactively deal with patient queries and complaints and contribute to the investigation of formal complaints to ensure the appropriate and timely responses are given and that trends are identified and remedial action taken.
