Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced research assistant to join our progressive and vibrant R&D team.

This multi-faceted role requires an understanding of research delivery in a variety of contexts.

The postholder will be involved in recruiting participants from existing clinical services and establishing relationships with newnservices/specialities as required.


The role is both staff and patient/client facing and requires an aptitude for working with a range of people from different cultures, ages, diagnosed conditions and environments.

Our current research portfolio covers mental health, dementia and community care services.

NELFT is an innovative and dynamic organisation with an accomplished record of delivering research studies throughout the Trust.

The Research and Development (R&D) team work collaboratively with both community and mental health services to deliver over 40 NIHR portfolio studies, recruiting more than 1000 people a year.

NELFT R&D delivers research opportunities to our patients and clients by working with a skilled group of staff and clinicians.


The research assistant will have experience of working with people together with a robust understanding of academic and research processes.

They will be a creative problem solver with an ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

We provide an opportunity to develop research skills through formal and experiential learning, supervision, mentoring and peer support.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement


This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436).

COVID-19 Vaccination
