About the role:

The British Museum is seeking a

Project Conservator:
Stone, Wall Paintings & Mosaics to join the Collection Care department.

The main purpose of this role is to contribute to the care of the collection through a combination of interventive and preventive measures in support of the museum's operating plan.

The role requires the post holder to have or be developing good general knowledge in the care and conservation of Stone Wall Paintings and Mosaics and to contribute to the loan, exhibition, and public outreach activities in the Department of Collection Care.

Key areas of responsibility:

To contribute to the conservation of Stone Wall Paintings and Mosaics in the collection.
To contribute to the preparation of objects for loan, exhibition, and permanent display.
To contribute to the care of the collection through dedicated projects on collections in store.
To assist with the care of the collection through documentation, surveys, data collection, analysis, and support at public events.
To contribute to the department's outreach activities through public speaking and publishing and act as an advocate for the museum.
To assist with the development of ideas for potential funding bids.
Other duties as assigned.
