Are you an experienced Night Shift Operations, Production, or Factory Manager looking for a new challenge within a busy factory environment?


A rapidly expanding successful group that encompasses all aspects of the meat trade is recruiting for a Night Shift Operations Manager for our site in Irlam, Manchester.

Our business, which is a catering butcher, has over 100 years' experience in the meat and farming industries.

All products are prepared in the factory daily each customer's specifications, packaged and labelled to and above legislation, and then delivereddirect throughout the UK.

The purpose of this Night Shift Operations Manager role is to ensure the smooth-running of all aspects of operations on the nightshift as detailed below.


Key responsibilities include:

- ensuring the full order completion in line with critical time dispatches
- taking responsibility for the night loading and trunking operation, liaising with the Group Transport Manager
- meeting KPI targets both agreed and set with the General Manager and Operations Director
- working with and delivering agreed budget targets for staff costs and head counts
- managing and controlling all aspects of production work carried out on the night shift
- liaising with the technical department
- working on developing and improving the skill levels of all staff
- reporting to weekly management meetings on all aspects of the night shift operations performance
- overseeing the night input clerks, liaising directly with the Telesales Manager
- interacting with our customers through telephone communications
- administrate holiday shift patterns in accordance with company policy ensuring that all necessary cover is in place
- liaising with HR regarding timekeeping, absences, complying with the Company Absence Procedure & Policy, Discipline and Grievance.

Additional Information Working hours are Monday to Friday, 20:00 - 06:00.

The role also will require some flexibility in the working hours to meet the needs of the business.


Essential Skills No formal qualifications are required for this Night Shift Operations Manager role and full training will be provided; however, it would be advantageous if you have supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced Operations or Production environmentand significant experience supervising or managing staff.


Desirable Skills:


  • Experience in the food/meat industry would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationship with managers in other areas of the business, to deliver the common goals of the business in terms of profitability and provision of agreed service levels to customers
  • Willingness to embrace change and develop people within your team
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • A strong commercial understanding of the business
