An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Governance Team covering the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units providing an efficient and high quality service.


You will be providing support to divisional staff in the delivery of an effective Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and risk management strategy for the site-based divisions to enhance the quality and safety of the services provided.

The post holder will work in such a way as to help promote a culture that actively improves clinical safety and quality.


Specifically, the role will include facilitating the effective and timely review of incidents and their management, escalation of significant incidents, risk review and reporting and supporting the regulatory compliance agenda.

An expert knowledge of the incident and risk management systems will ensure regular reports can be provided to the team, the service leadership teams.


The role also includes supporting key governance groups within the care group to ensure these work effectively to recognise and address risks.


This post involves working and liaising with the multi-disciplinary teams, including the MSE Patient Safety and Risk and Compliance Teams, clinicians, managers and other governance staff across MSEin a professional manner in written, verbal and electronic formats.

  • Responsible for leading the daytoday management of incidents and their review, identification and management of risk and compliance under the direction of the Care group governance lead, working collaboratively with other officers including the MSE Patient Safety and Risk and Compliance teams to deliver an effective Clinical Governance Assurance Framework.
  • To coordinate the undertaking of initial investigation reviews and comprehensive reports including incidents which are declared as 'Serious Incidents'. Supporting the Investigating Officers with expertise, data collection, the coordination and delivery of case reviews and report writing, ensuring that reports are quality assured prior to submission.
  • To ensure all information processed for patients and staff is kept confidential, accurate and in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Caldecott principles.
  • To deal with sensitive and sometimes emotive information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Support staff in meeting the duty of candour requirements and to communicate with patients and their families who have been involved in a patient safety incident ensuring there is robust and ongoing communication.
  • Provide support to staff providing statements for incident investigations.
