Description

This opportunity will require you to be eligible to achieve security clearance. Security clearance is dictated by the types of projects we work on and normally requires you to be a UK British national or lived in the UK for five years or more.

For this role we will be accepting previous applicants who have applied to a Mott MacDonald role for the 2024 intake.

  • Provide robust and timely technical radioactive waste management expertise to support a range of clients in new build, operations, and decommissioning.
  • Advise on some of the following areas: characterisation (including sentencing), management, production, treatment, storage, packaging and consignment of radioactive waste.
  • Produce technical reports for example: Waste Strategies, Project Waste Management Plans, BAT studies, Characterisation strategies, Sampling Plans utilising DQO, packaging proposals, etc.
  • Also support wider radiation protection activities for example writing local rules or ionising radiation risk assessments with the support of our accredited radiation protection advisors
  • Perform some project controls support.
  • Participate in the preparation of bids regarding radioactive waste management.
  • Work with our other departments, such as safety case, contaminated land, technical advisory and engineering to provide our clients with a comprehensive offering
  • To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Geology


  • Chemical Engineering

  • We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
