Description

Ynys Saff Sexual Assault Referral Centre at Cardiff Royal Infirmary provides a safe space, specialist support and dedicated care for people who have been sexually assaulted.

Additionally, all SARCs in England and Wales are currently waiting to be accredited to ISO 15189 Forensic Standards to reflect the high standard of care and forensic integrity for cases that may be heard at Crown Court.

A willingness to provide a DNA sample for the police Staff Elimination Database is required. This will be discussed further at interview.

This post is an evening shift into on call. The shift will begin at 17.00 based at SARC.

From 22.00, the shift will be an on call basis where phone requests for the use of the SARC will be taken at home and when required, the post holder will return and open the SARC to facilitate police forensic examinations.

Call outs are paid at a time and a half.

There may be some circumstances when the post holder will be required to work from another site such as Accident and Emergency.

Although you will be part of a team, this is mainly a lone working position.

The post holder will provide support, information and crisis management to clients attending the Sexual Assault Referral Centre in partnership with the police and Forensic Medical Examiner.

Following the completion of a forensic medical examination, the post holder will carry out a DNA forensic clean of the SARC following strict cleaning procedures as well as completing the required administration duties.

The successful applicant will be able to work on their own initiative in emotional and stressful situations. The ability to remain calm under pressure whilst supporting clients in trauma is essential.

The post holder will be flexible to cover shortfalls in the rota at short notice due to staff sickness, in order to operate the service on a 24 hours basis.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
