The Medical Education Service based in Musgrove Park Academy has 2 band 3 positions available.


The role of Medical Education Assistant will support the education services provided to postgraduate doctors in training working across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Postgraduate Medical Education Faculty and Educational/ Clinical Supervisors.


This role will also support the educational services provided to medical students on placement at Musgrove Park Academy, Undergraduate Faculty and Clinical Teaching Fellows.


This role would be an ideal next step for someone who has completed an NVQ level 2 in customer service/ business admin, someone who is currently doing a level 3 NVQ in business admin.


The job would also be suited someone already working at a band 2 who enjoys face to face contact with service users who would relish being part of a service educating tomorrows doctors.

Full training will be provided for all elements of the role.

The role is suited to someone wishing to undertake an NVQ level 3 in admin.

Both positions:

Support the Medical Education Administrators monitor the completion of educational requirements of postgraduate doctors in training.

Provide reception cover (annual leave/ college attendance for our 2 apprentices).


Position1:

Co-ordinate several teaching programmes with nominated clinical leads.


Position 2:

Provide comprehensive PA support to the Lead for Senior Doctor Wellbeing, including running surveys and collating results.

  • Process travel claims for medical students on placement at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Coordinate several teaching programmes with nominated clinical leads.
  • Monitor the attendance and teaching feedback of various teaching programmes.
  • Together with the rest of the Medical Education Team, take an active role in the smooth running of the teaching and learning facilities
  • Musgrove Park Academy.
  • Assist the medical education team with the running of exams and inductions a flexible approach regarding working hours for these events will be necessary.
  • Maintain information sources such as notice boards in the Academy and student halls, intranet pages and utilise social media opportunities where appropriate, ensuring all information current.
  • Prepare registers, feedback forms/ distribute electronic feedback, teaching materials and practical teaching equipment for teaching sessions, courses, and inductions.
  • To provide comprehensive PA support to the Lead for Senior Doctor Wellbeing, including running surveys and collating results. Support with compiling newsletters, information packs and other resources and the distribution/ promotion of these materials.
  • Prepare reports as and when required, relating to study leave, student travel claims, teaching attendance, completion of education and training requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of welcome packs for Medical Students, Postgraduate Doctors in Training and Senior Medical Staff.
  • Take notes and actions at Medical Education Meetings when required ensuring these are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Support the medical education team with unlocking and locking the teaching facilities, which may include setting up of rooms/ teaching materials and equipment
