Head of Procurement - Southwark, United Kingdom - Reed Finance
Description
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the Operational Procurement Team the qualified Head of Procurement will work closely with senior colleagues to provide professional leadership for procurement activity across the Universitygroup.
This includes assisting with the management of the professional function, driving continuous improvement through services that are flexible, customer focused, results orientated, cost effective, and that influence and work in support of the strategicdirection of FMI and of the group.
Core functions of the FMI senior team
Provide demonstrable leadership in key areas which are the responsibility of FMI including for example, compliance, data and information management and quality, risk management and value for money.
Enhance the reputation of FMI through excellent customer service to the broad range of stakeholders and promote the business partner model, working in close collaboration with schools and other professional service functions.
Manage and direct the Procurement Category Management team including the delivery and development of service across the University and Group, demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism and ethical behaviour at all times.
Develop and implement professional strategies, processes, procedures and policies, that meet strategic business needs, maintain legal compliance, and deliver on the commitment to continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain a team structure and service model that aligns with the business need, and centralises and devolves responsibility for procurement activities across the University as appropriate.
Contribute to managing a lean, efficient and effective delivery of professional procurement services using defined team resources to ensure value is generated and that targets and standards are successfully achieved.
Demonstrate consistently excellent leadership qualities with excellent strategic and analytical skills and to make a major contribution at senior management level within the University and group.
Be an integral part of the FMI leadership team, working closely with peers, subordinates, senior management, external stakeholders and suppliers in order to drive value, efficiency and foster an atmosphere of shared responsibility.
Manage the University's and group's insurance arrangements and put in place appropriate processes to ensure that new ways of working are incorporated into the risk management processes and insurance cover.
Experience of building effective and high performing teams, with ability to lead, direct and support the team in all aspects of strategic and operational procurement.
Credibility and presence to work with senior stakeholders to develop and deliver commercial strategies, effect process improvements and best practice to make a positive contribution to the University's strategic aims.
