Wirral Metropolitan College is looking for a Supported Internship Coordinator to join our team in Birkenhead.

This is a pivotal role that requires a highly motivated individual to ensure that all our Supported Internship students are properly supported and successful in their placements.


The Supported Internship Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that all students receive the best possible support and guidance to ensure that their placements are successful.

The Coordinator will need to be highly organized, have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a range of stakeholders including employers, teachers, parents/carers, and students.

Main Responsibilities:


  • Organise placements for students, ensuring that they are matched with suitable employers and roles.
  • Provide guidance to students in understanding their role and responsibilities.
  • Carry out regular reviews with employers and students to ensure that placements are successful.
  • Identify and provide additional support for students as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and other stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and support to any employers who are new to Supported Internships.
  • Keep accurate records of students' progress and placements.
  • Liaise with teachers and other staff to ensure that students are given the best possible support.
  • Assist with the development of the Supported Internship program.
  • Attend meetings and events as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:


  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Supported Internship and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Previous experience of working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driving license and access to a car.
