Recruiting Support Worker to join our Homelessness and Complex needs service in Kensington and Chelsea.


Looking for a new role where you can make a difference every day? We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Homelessness and Complex needs service in Kensington and Chelsea.

£23,019.36 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus Annual Leave pro rata, Pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

Shift Patterns:
Early: 8am - 6pm, Late: 11am - 8pm. Working any 5/7 days a week.

Look Ahead is a dynamic, leading, not-for-profit care and support provider in London and the South East. As an organisation we deliver over 110 services, providing support to around 7000 customers each year.

We're looking for a Support Worker to join our Homelessness and Complex needs service.


Essential:


  • Up to NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sector.
  • 1 Years mínimal experience
  • Good Time management
  • Strong Organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills


As a Support Worker you will enable vulnerable people to manage their licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

You will be responsible for helping them sustain their own tenancy, move on to independent living, reporting any incidents, completing the incident report, providing a comprehensive hand over for the night staff.

Seeing them move on and seeing them move out of drugs is rewarding but it can be difficult dealing with their drug and alcohol abuse including anti-social behaviour.

In this role you need to be able to cope positively with challenging and diverse behaviours.

  • Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.
  • Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals.
  • Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'.
  • Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support customers to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a routine.

Job Overview:


This service is a move on service catering for age groups , who have complex needs as well as drug and alcohol issues.

Our customers are at the service for 6 months to 2 years.

We have 54 customers at the service, both male and female and while they all have their own rooms, they share community space.

  • Is fundamentally calm and resilient, does not let emotion adversely affect them or obscure their judgement.
  • Has a practical and logical mind and is naturally well organized.
