Job summary:
- We are looking for an ambitious and proven communications professional to lead Defra's creative and highlyrespected Events and Visits team. The postholder will oversee the continued delivery of highprofile events and visits linked to the Secretary of State's key policy areas including improving and protecting the environment, growing a green economy, sustaining thriving rural communities and supporting our worldleading food, farming, and fishing industries.
Job description:
Responsibilities:
- Lead a talented team of people overseeing Ministerial visits across the Department
- Ensure Defra is focused on working collaboratively with policy teams to ensure that there is a consistent and strategic approach to all events and visits planning across the department anchored to business objectives
- Ensure the team delivers top quality visits and events and works collaboratively with all areas of the department including with private offices, special advisers, policy teams and across the Communications Directorate for a strategic approach to delivery
- Travel nationally and internationally to facilitate the events and visits, including recces, advances, delivering the visits and evaluation
Person specification:
Essential criteria:
- Experience of advising on public affairs, stakeholder engagement and/or communications at a senior level and of building excellent networks
- Expert at developing strong working relationships with Ministers, Special Advisers, Director Generals and Directors and multiple external partners
- A detailed understanding of Westminster, and of political process in the UK and Devolved Administrations
- Effective networker and influencer with a strong track record of influencing change
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Defra topics and a track record of working with businesses and organisations in our sectors
