The Trust Home Treatment Teams provide 24hr, 7 day a week, crisis assessment and intensive home treatment to patients with the aim of preventing in
- patient admission where possible or if admission is required facilitating earlier discharge.


The post holder will work as part of the Home Treatment Team on a rota basis, during the hours of 8am to 10pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The role also includes working across the Trust's Acute Referral Centre (ARC) on a rotation basis to cover day and night shifts, although the majority of time is spent located in a borough Home Treatment Service

About the team


You will be working within a highly skilled and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team who will support you in your development and your ability to deliver the best care you can to our service users.

As part of your professional development, you will receive specialist training in the interventions that support people when in crisis.

The rota for this role includes working weekends and weekdays between the hours of 8am and 10pm.


About the location:

You will be based at 4th Floor, Ladywell Unit, Lewisham High street, London, SE13 6LW

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2).

We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.

When working in the ARC, practitioners undertake triage assessments and on occasions, face-to-face assessments.

They form part of a team that manages beds and are expected to follow through the referral to a safe conclusion, which means liaising with wards, community services and Home Treatment Teams.

They are active members of the bed management coordination function for the Trust and as such, get involved with the entire booking process for in-patient admissions.

When working in the borough HTT team, practitioners undertake assessments and treatment, as required.

The person will lead in the assessment, co-ordination, planning, implementation, evaluation and delivery of high quality home treatment for people in acute psychiatric crisis.

The role will involve responsibility for an allocated group of mental health service users in crisis, with the aim of promoting their recovery and maintaining them in a community setting rather than in hospital.


The post holder will play a key role in the current development of the team and help implement the acute care pathway's aims and objectives, as well as helping to ensure good links with referring inpatient and community teams, with a view to reducing the number and length of inpatient admissions.

Effective gatekeeping assessment and the identification and delivery of the best treatment packages for people presenting to services in crisis will also be key.

About the role

The post holder will also work for periods at the Acute Referral Centre (ARC) at the Maudsley Hospital; this will involve triaging and gatekeeping all crisis referrals into the centre and working some night shifts,


This is a diverse and challenging role that requires the development of specialist skills to deliver recovery focused interventions to adults in a mental health crisis.

Our focus is to support service users to remain in their own home in order to aid their recovery during the crisis episode.
