Description

The Orthopaedic short stay ward is a busy 25 bedded unit catering for a high volume of patients attending for elective surgical procedures.

There are 2 ward clerks for the area to cover the busiest times on the ward when patients are admitted, discharged as well as paperwork and notes to be organised and processed.

The ward clerk can often be one of the first people patients see and speak to on the ward.


To provide comprehensive and confidential administrative and clerical support to the ward team in accordance with the departmental and trust standards.


To keep a well organised ward and ensure all relevant systems and processes are kept up to date to ensure smooth patient care from admission to discharge.

To provide support and guidance to all colleagues internally and externally in a professional and informed manner.
