A permanent, full time Finance Officer role working within Education.

This role is suited to those with end to end payroll experience and also experience with Local Government/ Teacher Pension Schemes.

Our client is a further education institution based in Tameside, Greater Manchester that offers first class education and training to local learners, to support individual aspirations and goals.


Description
The key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to;

  • To manage the main finance office and associated finance staff, ensuring that key everyday finance functions operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage and develop the organisation's financial software system(s), liaising effectively with other senior finance staff and IT services regarding maintenance, back up and development of the financial accounting system.
  • Assist in the year end audit process.
  • Assist in the regular review and development of key regulation and procedure documents.
  • Provide advice, guidance, support and training to budget holders on financial matters and systems.
  • Lead on all payroll matters and ensure the payroll function operates effectively including keeping up to date with current legislation.
  • Ensure all payroll payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for pension administration and ensure records are up to date for all employees including monthly IConnect submissions for GMPF and Monthly Contributions Reconciliation submissions for TPS. Be responsible for the reconciliation and completionof the EOYC for TPS audit.
  • Oversee the Purchase ledger and Sales ledger functions to ensure areas operate in an efficient manner.
  • Ensure monthly balance sheet control accounts are balanced in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile Bursary fund spreadsheets from Learner services to Finance system and liaise with appropriate staff to resolve any queries.
  • Be responsible for daily banking spreadsheets and manage bank account balances.
  • To undertake wider finance function duties as directed by management

Profile

  • Proven experience in an end to end Payroll role;
  • Experience working with Local Government Pension Scheme/ Teacher's Pension Scheme;
  • Intermediate Excel skills;
  • Great communication and team work;
  • Availability to work onsite 5 days a week.

Job Offer

  • A permanent, full time role as a Finance Officer specialising in Payroll and Pensions;
  • A starting salary of £27,000 per annum plus benefits including an approx 18% employer pension contribution.
