Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be partnering with an organisation in North Fife to recruit for the post of Head of Financial Reporting.

This is a pivotal post within the organisation, taking the lead on all aspects of financial reporting and compliance.

Joining an organisation that is world renowned in its' sector, you will work within a high calibre finance team with a progressive approach to financial management.

The Opportunity


Working in a team that continually strives for excellence, you will analyse and review month-end processes in order to deliver a faster month-end close whilst maintaining strong financial control.

You will work within the wider team to develop a newly implemented ERP system, following a highly successful implementation project across the organisation.


Working in an environment that that actively promotes professional development, you will be encouraged to develop your own skills and support your team with the same.

There are progression opportunities within the organisation and an active career planning and development programme.


You will be a fully Qualified Accountant with a recognised professional body and will have a proven track record in a Financial Controller or Group Accountant role, managing a team.

Ideally you will have worked in a sizeable organisation with multiple entities and some complexity.


You will have:

  • Experience of managing and delivering a monthend and yearend process to agreed timescales
  • Experience of preparing annual reports and accounts
  • Managed an external audit process
  • Strong IT skills, particularly experience using large data files in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating staff
Key competencies and skills required include;

  • Being decisive and confident, capable of operating autonomously on a regular basis
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Up to date technical accounting skills and knowledge
  • An ability to deal confidently with senior management (finance and nonfinance stakeholders)

Flexibility and Benefits

  • Office location: St Andrews, Fife
  • Working pattern: Fulltime role. Minimum 2 days in office, hybrid working, 36.25 hours per week
  • Pension: 14.5% employer contribution, 6% employee contribution
  • Flexible working opportunities available
  • Holiday entitlement: 34 days + 5 statutory days
  • Remuneration: £58,000 £64,000
