We're looking for a Works Inspector to join our Network Information and Compliance Team


The team


The Network Information and Compliance Team which is responsible for enforcement activities outlined by the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act, the Highways Act and associated Codes of Practice.


The role
As our Works Inspector you will undertake appropriate inspections of all types of reinstatements and sites.

Plan and undertake The New Roads and Street Works Act inspections, undertake permit and licence checks and inspections to ensure compliance, assist with the co-ordination of works and activities taking place on the highway to minimise the disruption and inconvenience caused to all users of the highway.

You will also ensure inspection results are accurately recorded, reported and follow through any enforcement action required, investigate enquiries and third party reports to ensure a satisfactory outcome, ensure the works complete on time and quality of reinstatements complies with the Specification for the Reinstatements of Openings in Highways, and partake in the provision of the winter maintenance regime, undertake weather and road condition checks to ensure an informed decision is made reference pre-salting/gritting/etc.


What you will bring


You will have knowledge and understanding of current highway legislation, and New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act 1980 and associated Codes of Practice, have recent experience in a street works/highways/statutory undertaker inspector or supervisor role.

You must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, good interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate influencing and negotiating skills.

Current driving licence is a must as you will need to visit sites across the county, a works vehicle will be provided.
