Amentum have an exciting opportunity within their Information Security Team for a proactive, professional and passionate part-time Junior Vetting Officer.


The role reports into our Vetting Manager and is a key role in the Information Security team and wider organisation.

The individual will facilitate our people on their journey with one of our key customer projects to ensure it is fully equipped to deliver the resources required.


Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Working closely with the Vetting Manager to support Amentum's security vetting and clearance service and as directed by the Vetting Manager.
  • Executing the full lifecycle of the vetting and clearances processes as appropriate for the clearance level and utilising the systems provided for the role.
  • Updating and maintaining the vetting database, recording accurate and concise notes as required, and undertaking effective records management.
  • Providing initial advice to the project on the suitability of the applicant, and ongoing advice and guidance on vetting matters related to project resources and responding to queries raised in a timely manner.
  • Issuing various vetting and clearance forms and guidance where required, and initiating DBS Checks if requested.
  • Ensuring clearance forms are checked for completeness and accuracy before submission.
  • Providing confirmation of vetting outcomes.
  • Providing timely notifications when clearances are due for renewal, initiating renewals, and follow up to completion.
  • Identifying any process or service improvements.
  • Supporting with management and stakeholder reporting as required.
  • Maintaining an uptodate working knowledge of BPSS and UKSV security clearance requirements and supporting documentation for compliance and enforcement.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis.
  • Able to quickly build rapport with stakeholders and individuals at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities of the business.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of team.
  • Attention to detail and follow processes through to completion.
  • Sensitive approach to personal information and awareness of data protection best practice.
  • Previous experience in a Vetting role (preferrable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of requirements and processes within HMG and UKSV (preferrable but not essential).
  • Must be British and capable of holding SC security clearance.
  • Capable of working 24 hours (ideally 3 days per week).
