Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow (Lower) in Cardiothoracic Surgery based at the University Hospital of Wales. Post available to start as soon as possible.

The post is a 12 month contract with a possibility of extension thereafter.


The post provides an excellent opportunity for those wishing to gain exposure to or develop their early experience in the challenging but hugely rewarding field of cardiothoracic surgery.


Duties of the post include clinical management of cardiothoracic surgical patients in the ward, theatre, cardiac ITU, and outpatient environments.

Successful applicants will be supported within the department by nurse practitioners, middle grade fellows and Specialist Registrars.

While these posts will not be recognised for postgraduate training, they will take place in a teaching environment with operative exposure, supported by weekly local teaching, monthly regional programme, wet labs and ward-based development.


These posts are not suitable for those at an advanced level or those who have completed training in Cardiothoracic surgery.
